Christian Heart Devotions

Sometimes when the Holy Spirit moves and inspires us we write devotions. Below are a few examples of our devotions. We hope you enjoy them. Thank You and God Bless!

We are the Lord's Jewels!!
Malachai 3:14-18
Malachai 3:14: Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts?
Malachai 3:15: And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered.
Malachai 3:16: Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
Malachai 3:17: And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
Malachai 3:18: Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.

Beloved, sometimes we do get discouraged in our walk with the Lord but I can assure you that God does keep His promises and He does remember who is faithful and who is not. Here in Malachai, we see some of the Jews being discouraged and discontented with seeing others prosper and apparently having great lives. They look at these people who do not honor God and are wicked, proud, and arrogant and wonder, "Is God Just?". But there is another group of people here in this story, who do not murmur and question God about these seemingly injustices. They got together as a group and were faithful to God and trusted in Him and lifted one another up. Beloved, God hears our cries. He sees us in our daily struggles and knows who is faithful to Him and who is not. Malachai 3:16 says there is a book of remembrance that is kept. And when God does gather his people, his jewels, we will see that He does indeed remember and is "just" to those who love and honor Him. Dearhearts, we are His treasure, never forget that! Sometimes getting to be a jewel isn't an easy task. Have you ever wondered what it takes to become a jewel in nature? Stones turn to jewels when alot of pressure is applied to them. When they are mined they are not usually pretty and valuable. It is when they are cut and polished and shined-- then and only then can we see how valuable they are. So when you feel like you are under pressure and life is not going the way it should. Hang in there, be strong, and be faithful to God! Remember you are becoming a jewel and you are a treasure in God's eyes.

Be Prepared!
Leviticus 8:22-24,33
Leviticus 8:22- And he brought the other ram, the ram of consecration: and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the ram.
Leviticus 8:23- And he slew it; and Moses took of the blood of it, and put it upon the tip of Aaron's right ear, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot.
Leviticus 8:24- And he brought Aaron's sons, and Moses put of the blood upon the tip of their right ear, and upon the thumbs of their right hands, and upon the great toes of their right feet: and Moses sprinkled the blood upon the altar round about.
Leviticus 8:33- And ye shall not go out of the door of the tabernacle of the congregation in seven days, until the days of your consecration be at an end: for seven days shall he consecrate you.

This is an interesting chapter in Leviticus beloved. Aaron and his sons are ordained as priests in front of the entire congregation of people. They are dressed in the priests garments and are equipped with all that they need to accomplish their ministry as the priests of the tabernacle. Dear hearts, we can learn so much from their example! Today as believers and adopted members into God's family, we are all priests spreading the gospel. We must prepare outselves us Aaron and his sons did! God provides us with all we need to help us in ministry to others. But we must prepare also! In reference to the above scriptures Aaron and his sons were annointed with the blood on the right earlobe, the right thumb, and the right big toe. I have heard it said that this symbolizes the need for Aaron and his sons to be ever ready to hear God's voice, ever ready to serve Him, and ever ready to follow Him! Beloved we must be ever ready too!! Also part of the ordination of Aaron and his sons was not allowing them to leave the tabernacle for several days. They were essentially set apart from everyone. Beloved we must set ourselves apart and live in the presence of God everyday. If we are to have a ministry, and we all should, we must live close to the Father to be effective. Be prepared and may your ministries always bring glory to the Father in the Name of Jesus!

God Hears!
Malachi 3:16-19 and 4:1-4
Malachi 3:16: Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
Malachi 3:17: And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
Malachi 3:18: Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.
Malachi 4:1: For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
Malachi 4:2: But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
Malachi 4:3: And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.

Beloved, how comforting it is to be placed in God's book of remembrance. The scripture says those who feared the Lord talked to each other and the Lord listened and heard. What can this be but the church. It is so important that christians fellowship with one another. Those who are faithful to the Lord need each other for encouragement and support. When we gather together, we hear one another's testimony, sing songs of praise to our great God, hear and learn the preached word, and worship together as one in truth and in spirit. How beautiful these things must be in the eyes of the LORD Almighty! How wonderful to know that we are God's treasures, and He loves us as a man loves his son. Do not dispare of the wicked in this world. God remembers, and he will judge righteously. Hang on because it will be worth it after all is said and done. Praise His Holy Name!!

Let Us Glory in the Lord!
Jeremiah 9: 23-24
Jeremiah 9:23: Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:
Jeremiah 9:24: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.
1 Corinthians 1: 26-31
1Corinthians 1:26: For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
1Corinthians 1:27: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
1Corinthians 1:28: And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
1Corinthians 1:29: That no flesh should glory in his presence.
1Corinthians 1:30: But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
1Corinthians 1:31: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

Beloved, the reality of our faith is the Lord Jesus Christ. He and He alone is our righteousness, our holiness, our hope, and our salvation. Today it is so easy to magnify the things of the world such as a man's wisdom, a man's strength, or a man's riches. The world strives to have more knowledge, to have wealth, and to be strong and beautiful. And there is nothing wrong with these things in and of themselves. But beloved, do not glory in these things. Do not devote your lives to these things. Many of us before we were saved were down and out and at the lowest points in our lives spiritually. But God, through His glorious Son Jesus, has raised us up to sit in heavenly places with Him. Let us glory and boast in Him. Let us take delight in the things that God delights in: kindness, justice, and righteousness and that we know and understand Him. And if we brag or boast, the only One worth bragging about is Christ. Praise His Holy Name!!

Abba Father
John 1:11-12
John 1:11: He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Galatians 4:4-7
Gal. 4:4: But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
Gal. 4:5: To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
Gal. 4:6: And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Gal. 4:7: Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
1 John 3:1
1John3:1: Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

Beloved, these scriptures are powerful! Ordinary people like you and I can be called the children of the Creator of the Universe. According to Roman law in bible times, when a child was adopted, his old relationships, obligations, and debts were severed and canceled. The new father became owner of the adoptee's possessions, and the new son became the father's heir. As you can see from scripture above, not everyone is a child of God. The world likes to say "we all are God's children". But scripture says different. Only those who are redeemed by the blood of Jesus, only those who proclaim Jesus as Lord and Saviour of their lives, can claim to be the legal son of God. Our older brother Jesus made this possible for us. Praise His Holy Name! Now no longer slaves to the law, we have the privilege of being in God's immediate family. We have the privilege to come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace in the time of need. (Hebrews 4:16) We have the privilege to cry Abba Father, which is a warm and intimate name of God meaning in today's language, Daddy! God loves us. He desires to have this warm and intimate relationship with us. How wonderful is His love for us! Tell Him how much you love Him today. Like any father, it will make His day.

One Person Can Make A Difference
John 4: 6-19, 25,26,28-30,39
John:4:6: Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
John:4:7: There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
John:4:8: (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
John:4:9: Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
John:4:10: Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
John:4:11: The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
John:4:12: Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
John:4:13: Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
John:4:14: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
John:4:15: The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
John:4:16: Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
John:4:17: The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
John:4:18: For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
John:4:19: The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
John:4:25: The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
John:4:26: Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
John:4:28: The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,
John:4:29: Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
John:4:30: Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.
John:4:39: And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.

Beloved, this is the wonderful story of Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well. I'm sorry I couldn't print all of it here because of space allotment, but there is enough here for you to get most of the story. Our title-- One Person Can Make A Difference is so beautifully illustrated here with the woman of Samaria. Through her testimony, a lot of the city came to believe in our Lord Jesus Christ. Beloved, that is why your testimony is so important to the world. As we witness to our friends and family, telling them how wonderful our Lord is, please include your testimony. Sometimes it may be the most powerful witness you have. People can say the Bible is not true, they may say Christianity is a crock, but beloved, they will never be able to say that what Jesus did for you is a lie. They will see it in your actions, how you carry yourself in this life, and what you say. I have personally witnessed walking miracles. People who were so vile and mean that you thought there was no hope for them. Until Jesus saved them. The world cannot deny that. It cannot deny that something or someone, a higher power changed this persons life. Also people dying from terminal diseases, where doctors have given up hope. And miraculously they are healed, leaving doctors and all baffled. Beloved, it is our Lord. Praise His Name. So you see, your testimony is so very important. Tell the world what our Lord Jesus Christ did for you. It may lead someone to salvation. And Beloved, isn't that our great commission. To tell the world about Jesus.

The Secret of the Peace of God
Phillipians 4:5-9
5. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
6. Be careful for nothing: but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Beloved, peace is a wonderful thing. One of the first things we receive when we accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour of our lives is a peace deep down in our hearts. Can the world give us this true satisfying peace? I think not. Only the Prince of Peace is able to do this. Praise His Holy Name! Beloved, when we pray, we have the promise of God that He hears us and will help us. That gives us peace and we should thank Him. Just as Paul writes to us, think upon things that are true, things that are noble and worthy of our respect, things that are right, which should be of God's standard and approval, things that are pure which is moral and upstanding, things that are lovely which is pleasing, and things that are admirable which is worthy of our praise. When we think of these things how can we not feel the peace of God down in our souls. A favorite saying of mine to my own precious son is: Garbage in, garbage out. When we put garbage into our minds and contemplate and dwell in this garbage, only garbage can come out of our minds, through our actions and our sayings. So beloved, stay away from garbage. Fill your thoughts with God and how wonderful He is. Fill your thoughts with His word and His promises. Think upon things that are pleasing to God and beloved, the God of peace will rest upon you.

What is Faithful?
1Cor. 1:9
God is FAITHFUL, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his son Jesus Christ our Lord.
1Cor. 10:13
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man; but God is FAITHFUL, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
1Thess. 5:24
FAITHFUL is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
2Thess. 3:3
But the Lord is FAITHFUL, who shall establish you, and keep you from evil.
1John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is FAITHFUL and just to forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Rev. 19:11
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called FAITHFUL and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

Beloved, What is faithful? Our God is faithful! Praise the Lord! In just these few verses of scripture we see just how faithful He really is. He called us into a fellowship with his Son, Jesus, and he will faithfully keep us. In times of trouble and temptation, He will not allow more to be put upon us than we can bear and faithfully provides a way of escape that we may be able to bear these troubles and temptations. He faithfully establishes us in His Word and keeps us from evil. He faithfully forgives us our sins when we confess them and He cleanses us from all unrighteousness. And in the end, our Jesus, who IS Faithful and True, will judge in righteousness. Praise His Holy Name! Beloved hold on. God is faithful! His Word is faithful. He is with us! We encourage you to stay in His Word and in Prayer in the coming days.

Psalm 37:23-29
23. The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
24. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.
25. I have been young, and now am old: yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
26. He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.
27. Depart from evil, and do good: and dwell for evermore.
28. For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
29. The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.

Beloved, don't worry if you stumble and are about to fall for our God will uphold you with his hand. Our God always takes care of His own. God loves his righteous and holy people and will always be with us. He is forever faithful. Trust in Him. Lean hard upon Him. And believe He is with you. His word says He will protect us for ever. We Praise Him for that. Hold on to the salavation that was given to us through His Son Jesus Christ. Hold on to Him. Don't let the worries and cares of this world separate you from Him and His promises.
